This contest is sponsored by S. C. Johnson and Son, Limited and Hershey’s Canada Inc. (the “Contest Sponsors”). Contest starts at 12:00:01 a.m. ET on October 31st, 2008 and ends at 11:59:59 p.m. ET on January 31st, 2009 (“the Contest Closing Date”; together, the “Contest Period”).

     

1. ELIGIBILITY

This contest is open to all legal residents of Canada who have reached the age of majority in the province or territory in which they reside.  Employees, representatives and agents (and persons with whom they are domiciled) of the Contest Sponsors, their respective advertising and promotional agencies and the Independent Contest Judging Organization are not eligible to enter this contest. 

     

There are 2 ways to enter this contest:

     

2a. ONLINE ENTRY

Visit www.ziploc.ca to complete the official contest entry form by entering your name, full home address, email address and daytime/evening telephone number where you may be reached, plus a recipe or baking tip to receive one (1) entry into the contest.   Each of your online entries must include a different recipe or tip.

     

2b. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY ENTRY

On a plain white piece of paper, handwrite your name, address and daytime telephone number where you may be reached along with a one hundred (100) or more word essay on “My Favourite Holiday Memory” to: SCJ Contest, P.O. Box 4018  Paris, ON N3L 3W9     and you will automatically receive one (1) entry into the contest. Each mail-in entry must be original, handwritten and in a separate envelope bearing sufficient postage and must be received no later than January 31st, 2009.

     

Limit of one entry per person per week, regardless of method, for a total of 13 contest entries during the Contest Period, plus bonus entries (if applicable).  For the purposes of this contest, a “week” is defined as beginning Friday and ending Thursday, in Eastern Time. 

     

There are 2 ways to receive bonus entries for the contest:

     

3a. NEWSLETTER BONUS ENTRY

Receive one (1) bonus entry into the Grand Prize draw by signing up for SC Johnson’s Right@Home e-newsletter on the contest website.  There is a limit of one (1) Newsletter Bonus Entry per person.

     

3b. REFER A FRIEND BONUS ENTRY

At the time of online contest entry you are eligible for a bonus entry if you refer five (5) friends by email address, available on the entry form at www.cookieconnections.ca.  Referred e-mail addresses will only be used by the Contest Sponsors for the purpose of contacting the friend to provide information about entering this contest and will not be added to any direct marketing list or used in any direct marketing programs without consent. There is no limit on the number of Refer a Friend Bonus entries you can receive during the Contest period. 

     

In the event it is discovered that you attempted to enter more than the permitted number of entries by any method, then all of your entries may be void.

     

Odds of winning will depend upon the number of eligible entries received by the Contest Closing Date. All entries must be received by the Contest Closing Date in order to qualify. The Contest Sponsors will not be responsible for late, delayed, misdirected, lost, or incomplete entries.  By entering the contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by the Official Contest Rules and Regulations as set out herein, and accept the decisions of the Independent Contest Judging Organization and the Contest Sponsors as final and binding in all respects. All information obtained for this contest will only be used for the purpose of conducting the contest. Entries that are incomplete, irregular, have been submitted through illicit means, or do not conform to or satisfy any condition of these Official Rules may be disqualified. 

     

4. GRAND PRIZE

There is one (1) Grand Prize available to be won, consisting of five thousand dollars ($5,000.00 CDN). The Grand Prize must be accepted as awarded, is non-refundable and non-transferable. The Contest Sponsors reserve the right to substitute the Grand Prize with a prize of equal or greater value.

     

5. DRAW

A Random Draw will be conducted at or about 2:00 pm ET on February 10th, 2009 in Brantford, ON by the Independent Contest Judging Organization, from all eligible entries received.

The selected entrant will be contacted by email, mail, courier or telephone within five (5) business days of the draw date. If the selected entrant cannot be contacted within five (5) business days, he/she will be disqualified and a new random draw from the remaining eligible entries will be conducted to select another entry and the process noted above will be repeated until a selected entrant is contacted or there are no more eligible entries, whichever comes first.

     

Before being declared a winner, the selected entrant must first correctly answer without assistance of any kind, whether mechanical or otherwise, a time-limited mathematical skill-testing question within ten (10) business days of prize notification. The selected entrant will also be required to sign a Declaration and Release Form (the “Release Form”) confirming compliance with these Official Contest Rules and Regulations, acceptance of the Grand Prize as awarded without substitution, and releasing the Contest Sponsors, their affiliated and related companies, advertising and promotional agencies, the Independent Contest Judging Organization and their respective shareholders, directors, officers, employees, agents, dealers, representatives, successors and assigns from any liability in connection with the Grand Prize or this contest.

     

Declining the Grand Prize, failing to answer the mathematical skill-testing question correctly,  failing to return the Release Form within the time period indicated on the Release Form or failing to comply with any contest rule will cause the Grand Prize to be forfeited and a new random draw from the remaining eligible entries will be conducted to select another entry and the process noted above will be repeated until a winner is declared or there are no more eligible entries, whichever comes first.

6. GENERAL

This contest is subject to all applicable Federal, Provincial, and Municipal laws and regulations.  All decisions of the Independent Contest Judging Organization are final and the Contest Sponsors and Independent Contest Judging Organization shall not be held responsible for any accident, negligence, printing, administrative or other errors that may arise or occur in connection with the contest with no obligation or liability, subject to applicable law.  Unless otherwise provided for in these Official Contest Rules and Regulations, all personal information gathered will be used only for the purpose of conducting this contest in accordance with the Contest Sponsor’s privacy policy at www.scjohnson.ca.

     

No correspondence will be entered into except with selected entrant. By entering this contest and accepting the Grand Prize, the winner consents to the use of his/her name, city of residence, video image, voice, and/or photograph in any related publicity or Internet posting without further notification or compensation.

     

By accepting the Grand Prize, the winner releases and agrees to hold the Contest Sponsors, their directors, employees, officers and agents, including without limitation their advertising and promotion agencies and the Independent Contest Judging Organization, harmless against any and all manner of action, causes of action, suits, debts, covenants, contracts, claims and demands, including legal fees and expenses, whatsoever, including but not limited to, claims based on negligence, breach of contract and fundamental breach and liability for physical injury, death, or property damage which the entrants or his/her administrators, heirs, successors or assigns might have or could have, by reason of or arising out of the entrant's participation in the contest and/or in connection with the acceptance and/or use by the entrant of the Grand Prize awarded.

     

All entries become the property of the Contest Sponsors upon receipt and will not be returned.  No responsibility will be taken for any failure of the web site during the promotion or for any problems or technical malfunction of a telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail, on-line, or Internet entry to be received by the Contest Sponsors on account of human error, technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any web site, or any combination thereof including any injury or damage to an entrant’s or any other person’s computer related to or resulting from playing or downloading any material in the promotion. 

     

The Contest Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole discretion and subject to the consent of the Regie des alcools, des courses et des jeux with respect to the province of Quebec, to cancel or suspend the Internet portion of this contest should a virus, bug or any other cause beyond the reasonable control of the Contest Sponsors corrupt the security or proper administration of the contest, or the odds of winning.  Any attempt to deliberately damage any web site or to undermine the legitimate operation of this promotion is a violation of criminal and civil laws, and should such an attempt be made, the Contest Sponsors reserve the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.  Entries are subject to verification and will be declared invalid if they are forged, falsified, altered or tampered with in any way.

     

In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting an electronic entry, the entry will be deemed submitted by the “authorized account holder”. That is the person in whose name the Internet service or text message service is registered, provided that person meets all eligibility criteria set forth in the Eligibility section of these Official Contest Rules and Regulations. “Authorized Holder” shall mean the natural person assigned to the email or text messaging address by an Internet service provider, on-line service provider, phone company, mobile phone service provider, or other organization (e.g., business, educational institution, etc.) that is responsible for assigning email/text messaging addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email/text message address.  Contest Sponsors reserve the right at their sole discretion, to disqualify any individual (and all of his or her entries) who tampers with the entry process.

     

For Quebec residents, any litigation respecting the conduct or organization of a publicity contest may be submitted to the Regie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling.  Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Regie only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.
